HavendoK documents people working on the shore — from shipyards to ports and fishing communities — showing their daily labor and conditions.
HavendoK is a long-term sound and photographic project exploring the lives of people working along the shore. From the shipyards of Antwerp and Gdańsk to the fishing communities of Calais and Boulogne, from the morning rituals of dockers in cafés to the quiet rhythm of port life, the project captures moments of labor, waiting, and movement.
The work navigates a space between documentary and fiction: scenes are rooted in reality, yet the framing, the light, and the focus on gestures, solitude, and repetition create a narrative that reflects both the physical and emotional landscapes of these lives. Work becomes rhythm, presence becomes story, and ordinary routines reveal subtle, often overlooked poetry.
Through images and sound, HavendoK examines the tension between endurance and monotony, between human presence and industrial surroundings, offering an intimate portrait of people whose labor shapes and sustains the world along the shore.
