Within the Rufa’i Sufi brotherhood in Prizren, the celebrations of Sultani Nevruz mark the birth of Imam Ali and the first day of spring in the Shiite calendar. This date signals the renewal of the annual cycle and holds an important place within certain Sufi confraternities in the Balkans.
The Rufa’i belong to one of the many Sufi brotherhoods present in Prizren. During these gatherings, dervishes perform Faqiri rites as an expression of devotion and in affirmation of the authority of the Sheikh. These practices include acts carried out with sharp objects, accompanied by rhythmic chants and collective recitation.
These moments form part of a ritual framework in which individual commitment, discipline and shared presence are central.
These moments take place within a devotional context centred on faith in God.
